The white longboard was ten dollars cheaper than the boards with colorful designs on the deck, so I bought it.
I already had the markers.
The designs are outlined in thick, black Sharpie. Then I used colored Bic Mark It! pens to fill in the color. All of the color is done with stippling - billions of time-consuming, tiny dots. It took a very long time.
I rode it for a while, but every time I did the marker would get scraped off and scratched. I spent a lot of time retouching spots I'd already finished, so I decided to stop riding it. Plus, when it all comes down to it... it's a crappy board to ride. Doesn't turn, it's too heavy for little me to push, and goes far too fast when it picks up speed on hills. I got a nice new board to ride, and this is going on the wall.

SO SICK i love to see people throwing down on there boards, i like the idea of stippling makes it seem more welcoming rather then obnoxious, i've never used those markers i use paint markers but i totally like the way it came out

Thanks! I've never used colored paint pens myself, but I really would like to - it's just that they're so darn expensive. I feel the same about the stippling, except, of course, when I'm in the middle of the project - then I just think "why did I do this to myself again?!?" :)

fucking amazing!!! the fact that it doesn't ride well aside, if you wanted to protect the design while riding you could have gone over it with gel medium or fiberglass or something.

This is done really well~ I'm looking in to drawing on my own board, and thanks to this I now know that sharpie is not the best choice. I might do it on my old sector nine though~

I had the same turning problem with it. So the deck is hidden away in the closet.

Again though, so pretty! :D Skills!

Thanks! I appreciate your feedback :)and don't get me wrong - the sharpie worked beautifully on the board and I would totally recommend using it on yours.
I was just getting frustrated because it was the only board I had, so of course I wanted to ride it, but riding it while in the process of drawing on it wasn't really a good idea because I had to continually touch up the scrapes.
My original plan was to finish it and then coat it with some kind of clear sealant, which would prevent anything from rubbing off. But, in the end, it was just a crappy off-brand board, so I upgraded to a nice, short Sector9. (Oh, and the turning problem ended up being crappy trucks that were way too tight) Happy drawing/riding! Hope you live somewhere there isn't any snow, cuz my poor longboards are retired til spring. Wah.

Haha, here in Seattle it just rains all the time. I really want to get some ceramic berrings ... buuutt they are super expensive so I'll just have to stick with cleaning them off every time I ride in the rain! Haha. There's just TOO many days where it rains~ So I said "fuck it!"

I've never even heard of ceramic bearings! I'm just across the state from you, in snowy snowy Spokane. At the rate it keeps snowing here, I won't be able to board again until July. :(
Oh, well, I'll settle for snowboarding, I guess!
